Description
To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill's death, Halcyon Days is proud to have created in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery, a limited edition enamel box. A piece we hope will be a fitting tribute to Britain's prodigious wartime leader.
The portrait, which can be seen on the lid of the box, was painted in 1916 by Sir William Newenham Montague Orpen and offers us a rare glimpse into the depths of Churchill's character. Perhaps because of the recent disaster at Gallipoli, Churchill's expression seems deeply troubled, making this portrait quite unique in capturing his profound, personal sense of humanity, as well as his public role as a statesman. Appropriately perhaps, these boxes are examples of great British craftsmanship, being painstakingly hand-painted in our factory in England, using all the traditional techniques for which Halcyon Days has developed an unparalleled reputation.
Limited edition of 100 pieces. Size: L: 3.35" W: 2.55" H: 1.05"
